Heart Cake Pops

Kelly Peterson - Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Today we were on KWCH for Tasty Tuesday demonstrating how to make Heart Cake Pops just in time for Valentine's Day.  In case you missed it, here is a link that will take you step by step to this delicious treat:  http://www.kwch.com/videogallery/67622996/News/Velvet-Cream-Bakery

Our recipe and instructions:

Cake Pops Dough:

Your favorite cake (baked)
2 cups of frosting

Crumble the cake by sliding two pieces of cake against each other.  Once completely crumbled, slow add the frosting until you reach a nice dough consistency with not crumbs unfrosted.  Put in the refridgerator to chill for an hour or so.

Heart Cake Pops:

Cake pop dough
Lollipop sticks
Chocolate/Candy coating (heated per instructions)
Sprinkles or other fun edible decorations
Glass or foam piece
Heart shaped pan or mold

Once the dough has chilled, take a small ball and start to form it into the heart mold.  Pop the heart out and grab a lollipop stick.  Dip the stick about 1/4" into the melted chocolate and slide the stick through the heart at the base being careful not to go through the top.  Let this set to dry a minute.  Then dip the heart completely into the chocolate and once covered, tap the top of the stick to remove any excess chocolate.  It's time to decorate!  Have fun and each heart will be as unique as yours.  Place the stick into a glass or foam mold and allow to dry.

After your hearts set, arrange them as a bouquet or wrap in a cellophane bag for a sweet Valentine's Day treat.
